Our U12 team reached the county semi final, our U14 team reached the county final and took St Josephs to a replay before losing narrowly. • Under 14 Final
Our under 14 team came out second best in the eleven a side county final replay last Saturday. A physically stronger St Josephs team overcame our lighter team by a goal. 2-6 to 1-6 was the final score. Over the two games St Josephs were the better balanced team and deserve this county title, you will get no complaints from Kiltubrid on that score but we did feel that this game was perhaps a little over physical at times with one head high tackle on Aine Tighe a particularly dangerous one.
  • Senior League Final
This Saturday 26th we play Aughawillan in the senior league final in Aughnasheelin at 12.45. Its the clubs last game of the year in what has already been a very sucessful year in ladies football for the club and your support would be greatly appreciated.

14 November 2005

  • Connacht Championship
After twenty-four games our fantastic year came to an end last Saturday in the Connacht Club Championship Semi-Final against St. Brigids in Kiltoom on a score line of 1-07 to 1-11. After a great opening when Nick O’Donoghue found the net after twenty minutes we looked good for a three point lead at half-time only for Karol Mannion to find the net and also the posts to give Brigid’s a half-time lead of one point. The second half was nip and tuck for the first twenty minutes but the last ten minutes was the Frankie Dolan show where he kicked some class frees to edge the game in the Roscommon men’s favour. Team – Noel Gill, Enda McKeon, Fergal Meehan, Niall Foley, Aidan Bohan, Emmett Lee, Shane Foley, Karl Scollan, Christy Carroll, Conor Doherty, James Gill, Micheal Earley, Dara McKiernan, Barry Doyle and Nick O’Donoghue. Subs – John McGovern and Gearoid Foley.
  • Supporters
Once again our loyal band of supporters from the parish and throughout the county did themselves proud by outnumbering the Roscommon support in a 2,000 strong crowd in Kiltoom. Thanks also to the many messages of support prior to the game. Once again thanks to each and every one of you.

Our Club AGM takes place on the 10th December 2005.
  • Kiltubrid Ladies Notes:

The dream of a Connacht championship ended for our men last Saturday in Kiltoom when St Brigits of Roscomman beat our gallant seniors in the Connacht semi final replay on a score of 1-11 to 1-07. Congratulations to all involved on a tremendous display over the two games. Well done lads ye gave us an unforgettble year and ye are great county champions.

07 November 2005

  • Connaught Championship
What can we say only that we are still in there with a shout in this years Connaught Club Football Championship thanks to a gutsy display especially in the second half at Pairc Sean last Sunday. Playing against the wind in the opening half the lads battled for their lives as St Bridgets played some very good patches of football earning them six points as we managed three in reply to leave us with some catching up to do for the final thirty minutes of the game. With only twenty five seconds from the resumption after half time Micheal Earley sent the ball over the bar from a good piece of play from our team. This was to give our team the platform on which the comeback was created. And what a second half performance we witnessed as we held the visitors to just three points for the remainder of the game. The extra time created by the ‘Cake’ lying on the ground to take the momentum out of our onslaught proved to be the period when we had some near misses before we got that all important point to level matters that takes us to Kiltoom for the replay next Saturday.
  • Supporters.
Overwhelmed by the level of our parish and all Leitrim support our club wishes to once again sincerely thank all of you for your huge support last Sunday. This means a lot to our team and everybody involved to know that we have your continued loyalty especially at this time of the year with the weather not being that friendly to spectators. Once again we appeal to you to try your best and be in Kiltoom where we hope to get the right result this time round. We cannot say enough in our efforts to thank each and everyone of you for what has been a great year so far for Kiltubrid and Leitrim at this level of competition. To further confuse people we will be back to wearing our own club colours for this game. Thanks to Leitrim county board for the use of the county away jerseys last Sunday.
  • Replay in Kiltoom.
The replay next Saturday in Kiltoom Co Roscommon has a throw in time of 2 pm.
  • AGM
Our Club AGM takes place on the 10th December 2005. This is good notice for everyone, and in this our clubs’ most successful year it should be a very well attended meeting. We make a special appeal for people to come forward and make this club a good sound organisation for all our young people who will form the teams of the future using our facilities in the years ahead.
  • Match Programme
We thank all who bought a match programme last Sunday and all those who helped out with selling them as well.
  • Annual Parish Bazaar
Don’t forget to support our parish Annual Bazaar this Friday and Saturday night in Cardiff’s Drumcong. Huge selection of valuable prizes on offer both nights with an Antique refurbished Chair as the door prize and Star Prize is a 3 Seater Leather Suite including two Queen Anne style Matching Chairs donated by Allendale Furniture Company Limited.
  • Kiltubrid Ladies Gaa
  • Well done lads
Well done to the Kiltubrid mens senior team who fought back from a four point defecit in the Connacht club semi final last Sunday. They earned a well deserved draw against St Brigits of Roscomman. The replay is this Saturday the 12th of November in Kiltoom at 2 o'clock and we would urge as many of our members as possible to go and support the lads on Saturday.

31 October 2005

  • Seniors
Last Saturday both Kiltubrid and Bornacoola returned to the scene of the county final but on this occasion the men from Bornacoola did themselves justice with a strong second half display to level the game on a score line of 3-03 to 1-09. Team – Noel Gill, John McGovern, Fergal Meehan, Enda McKeon, Aidan Bohan, Emmett Lee, Niall Foley, Karl Scollan, Barry Doyle, Conor Doherty, Aidan McKiernan, Micheal Earley, Dara McKiernan, Adrian Lee and Gearoid Foley. Subs used – Christy Carroll, Stephen Guckian and Richard Mahon. This may not be the end of our league campaign as a win for Annaduff over St. Mary’s would put us and St. Mary’s into a play-off for the final.
  • Connacht Championship
We take on St.Brigid’s of Roscommon in the Connacht Club Semi-Final this Sunday 6th November at 2.30pm in Carrick following our memorable victory over Coolera/Strandhill three weeks ago. Your continued loyal support on the day to cheer the lads on will be greatly appreciated.

The supporters club draw now takes place on St. Stephens night due to current commitments in the club associated with the senior teams successful run this year. Tickets are still available from all club members. Prizes include a 42” Plasma TV, Digital Camcorder and numerous cash prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Deepest sympathy to the McLoughlin famly, Drumbollogue and the McKeon family, Keshcarrigan on their recent bereavements.

  • Good Runners
Congratulations to club u12 players Niamh Tighe and Ciara Mc Weeney who were both part of the Ballinamore A.C. under 12 girls team who won a Connacht medal last Sunday in Ballinamore. Also well done to Aine and Sinead Tighe who ran in the U14 and U16 races.
  • Well Done Gaels
Congratulations to our neighbours Leitrim Gaels who won the u12 seven a side girls championship last weekend. They bet Aughawillan in the final.
  • Senior League
Kiltubrid ladies were playing the Connacht champions in the league last week and dispite missing a few regulars we gave Aughawillan a good run for their money. We lost the game by a few points in the end and we now play them in the league final.

24 October 2005

  • Passing of a Great Gael.
The sad news filtered through on Sunday evening of the death of one of the great GAA personalities of County Leitrim, the late Cormac McGiolla. Best remembered in this community for his involvement in getting a Youth Band started back in 1992. A great lover of all things Irish, including its culture, its games, its music and indeed anything that promoted and maintained our heritage for future generations. A well known promoter of GAA Scor at Junior and Senior level, Cormac took a special interest in all aspects of this very important segment of our great national organisation that is the GAA. His weekly column of the Dromod notes in the Leitrim Observer was a most interesting piece of writing for all Observer readers. Despite ill health Cormac kept in touch with the people through this weekly column. I’m sure many tributes will appear to the memory of this great gael, but the loss of Cormac to his wife and family and the greater Bornacoola community will be hard to come to terms with in the days and weeks ahead. We offer our sincere sympathy to the Mc Gill family on their great loss. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
  • Seniors
We met the 2004 champions Annaduff in the league last Saturday in Dromod. In a tight game where both sides enjoyed the lead at various stages it was Annaduff who led by three points with little left on the clock when captain Christy Carroll stormed through the Annaduff defence and buried the ball to give Kiltubrid a share of the points on a scoreline of 1-09 to 3-03. Team – Noel Gill, John McGovern, Fergal Meehan, Enda McKeon, Aidan Bohan, Emmett Lee, Shane Foley, Christy Carroll, Karl Scollan, Conor Doherty, Niall Foley, Micheal Earley, Dara McKiernan, Nick O’Donoghue and James Gill. Subs Used – Gearoid Foley and Barry Doyle. Thanks to the Annaduff team for their guard of honour prior to the game. Next up in the league is a replay of the county final against Bornacoola.
  • Connaught Championship
Team preparations are going well for Sunday week’s game against St Brigids of Roscommon. The game itself has all the strains of a Roscommon v Leitrim encounter and should draw a good number of supporters to Pairc Sean from both sides of the Shannon. Unknown territory for Kiltubrid who find themselves representing Leitrim at the semi-final stage of this years Connaught Club Championship. Again we can depend on the great support similar to what turned out for the game in Sligo.
  • Supporters Draw
The planned draw next weekend has been put back to St. Stephens night due to current commitments in the club associated with the senior teams successful run this year. Tickets are still available from all club members. Prizes include a 42” Plasma TV, Digital Camcorder and numerous cash prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
  • AGM
Our Club AGM has been penciled in for the 10th December 2005, please take note. This is good notice for everyone, and in this our clubs’ most successful year it should be a very well attended meeting.
  • Match Programme
Any businesses wishing to advertise in the match programme for the Connaught Club Semi-Final on Sunday week the 6th October are asked to contact 086 8505391 before this Friday evening at 7pm. As this is a home game for the Leitrim Champions, Kiltubrid Club will receive all revenue generated by its production and sales. Your support to date has been fantastic and we now ask you again to make this Match Programme a Booklet that every home would like to have a copy of.
  • Training Field.
Looking very well is our newly developed training field as a nice coat of green grass has finally appeared. The entrance to our grounds looks good and everyone is reminded of the need to keep our parking area free for all attending games only.
  • Congrats.
Well done to St Mary’s Hurlers who had a victorious outing against Calry St Josephs of Sligo in the Connaught Senior Hurling championship first round last weekend. Good luck in the next round.

  • Under 14 draw
Our under 14 county final against St Josephs ended in a draw last Sunday. It took a late free from Aine Tighe to keep us in it and give us a second day out. The score was seven points each.
  • Meeting
County board officals will be meeting with all ladies clubs over the next few weeks to discuss club structures and the role of club officers especially the childrens officer. All matters relevant to the club will be discussed and ways to improve the competitions for the club. Players of all ages should attend as well as managers and officers.

17 October 2005

  • Connaught Club Championship
A Connaught semifinal spot appearance for our Seniors who had a five point winning margin over the Sligo champions Coolera/Strandhill in Sligo last Sunday. Playing on away from home at this level didn’t seem to inhibit any of the team as they took the game to Coolera from the throw in. This further step will give the team great confidence as they now face the Roscommon champions St Brigids on Sunday Nov 6th in Pairc Sean. Whatever the result this has been a wonderful year for the club and every good result from here on in is a bonus. The traveling support from the parish and from all over Leitrim was heartening and great encouragement for everyone involved with the club. We thank all of you for your support including everyone who sent messages of support before and following the game itself.
  • Senior League.
No rest for our Seniors as on this Saturday 22nd Oct as we travel to Bornacoola to play Annaduff. The game has a throw in time of 4.30 pm. Once again your support will give the team a lift on the day.
  • Congratulations.
Well done to neighbours Aughnasheelin on their Junior Championship final success last Sunday and commiserations to St Osnetts.
  • Supporters Draw
Last opportunity to get your tickets as our Club Draw draws near. Please use this opportunity to support the club as they have a tough time resource-wise coping with a very successful year to date at huge cost not to mention the ongoing development at the park. All club members are asked to sell a ticket and buy one as well. It could be you, watching the videos of our games played this year on your very own 42’’Plasma TV.
  • Junior Champions 1981
To mark the Silver Jubilee of the Junior Championship winning team of 1981 a special weekend is planned for mid July 2006. All members of this panel of players both at home and those living in exile are invited to join in the celebrations. Its an opportunity possibly for those of you living abroad to make arrangements to have a holiday at that time in Ireland and be around for the weekend of 14th, 15th and 16th July 2006. The club would like if all of you can make it.
  • Kiltubrid Ladies GAA
  • Sorry Aisling
We would like to apologise to our super u14 goalie Aisling Mc Gourty whos name was omitted from the u16 panel who won the county nine a side title last week. Sorry Aisling.
  • U14 Final
Best of luck to our u14 girls who take on St Josephs in the u14 final next Sunday the 23rd of October in Fenagh at 3.15. This is the last time you can see the girls in action so your continued support would be very much appreciated.
  • Cardiffs
We would like to sincerely thank Cardiffs Drumcong for their after match refreshment on Sunday and for all their generous hospitality during the year.

10 October 2005

  • Seniors
We got our league campaign back on track with a win over St. Marys last Sunday on a score line of 1-07 to 0-06. In a tight game the Carrick men went in ahead at the break by slenderest of margins 0-3 to 0-2. The second half was another tight affair but the turning point of the game came when Dara McKiernan caught brilliantly and finished superbly to the back of the net. Team – Noel Gill, Enda McKeon, Fergal Meehan, Gerry Winters, John McGovern, Emmett Lee, Shane Foley, Karl Scollan, Christy Carroll, Gearoid Foley, Conor Doherty, Micheal Earley, Dara McKiernan, Niall Foley and James Gill. Subs Used – Gerry Gilmartin, Aidan McKiernan and Stephen Guckian. Big thank you to the St. Mary’s team who formed a guard of honour for our team as they entered the field of play in recognition of their county championship success. Thanks to all supporters who turned out in their large numbers once again.
  • Connaught Championship
Next up for our Senior team is the little matter of a visit to Sligo to take on Coolera/Strandhill in the Connaught Club Quarter Final this Sunday 16th October at 2.30pm in Markievicz Park. While this is uncharted water for the lads no doubt they will not only do their Parish proud but also their County. All supporters are asked to at least match their County Final support by getting behind the team for this big game.
  • Senior League.
Next outing for our Seniors is on Saturday 22nd Oct as we travel to Annaduff to play the newly crowned Senior A Champions Annaduff (Congratulations in order) and on the following Sat 29th Oct we have a repeat of the county final pairings at home as the Bornacoola Team travel to Kiltubrid. Both games at 4.30 pm.
  • Match Video’s
Copies of the match and after match celebrations are available on VHS and DVD from your club secretary PJ Meehan.
  • Supporters Draw
Tickets are available from all club members. Prizes include a 42” Plasma TV, Digital Camcorder and numerous cash prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
  • Another Underage Title for the Girls
Congratulations to the Under Sixteen Girls who held out against St Josephs to Capture county honors last Sunday in Fenagh.
  • Kiltubrid Ladies Gaa
  • Under 16s
Our under 16 team had a hard earned win in the county final 9 a side competition. The Kiltubrid nine beat St Josephs by four points, but had to work very hard for their victory over a very strong St Josephs team. County chairperson Patrica Bohan when presenting the cup to our captain Siobhain Kelly had special words of praise for Aine Tighe who had a great game for Kiltubrid. Patrica was right of course but we think that all our team had especially good games in this match after our team had a slow start and our players really showed their metal when senior player Aoife Mc Weeney had to leave the field sick. Well done girls, our under 16 panel were Orla Mc Gourty, Kathy Beirne, Claire Kelly, Sinead Byrne, Siobhain Kelly(Capt.),Sinead Tighe,Tara Evans, Aoife Mc Weeney, Aine Tighe, Helene Duignan, Clodagh Foley, niamh Tighe, Ciara Mc Weeney and Christine Gill.
  • Congrats Aughawillan
Congratulations to Aughawillan Ladies on their great win in the Connacht club final last Saturday.
  • Good luck lads
We wish Kiltubrid mens team the best of luck in their Connacht championship game this Sunday against the Sligo champions.
  • Sponsorship
All Kiltubrid ladies teams are doing well this year with the Senior B championship and 9 a side league secured at adult level and we are minor county champions and under 16 9 a side champions. We feel we are a club well worth supporting. We would be very greatful to anyone who would be willing to sponsor us in any way however small. Of course we are greatful to all our supporters who support our monthly lotto.

03 October 2005

  • Seniors
Our senior’s were brought back down to earth after their high of two weeks ago by Gortletteragh on a score line of 1-10 to 1-08 away last Sunday. The game began with a nice gesture by the Gortletteragh team who formed a guard of honor for the Kiltubrid team entering the field in recognition of their championship success, but that was where the goodwill ended as the Gortletteragh side raced into a 1-02 to no score lead after only about five minutes on the clock, but Kiltubrid battled back to within a point at the break. The second half was a tight and tense affair with both sides exchanging the lead at various stages but it was the Gortletteragh men’s greater resolve that saw them win by two points. Team – Noel Gill, Emmett Lee, Gerry Winters, Enda McKeon, Aidan Bohan, John McGovern, Shane Foley, Niall Foley, Karol Scollan, Conor Doherty, Adrian Lee, Stephen Guckian, Dara McKiernan, James Gill and Dermot McKeon. Subs Used – Gerry Gilmartin, Richard Mahon and Aidan McKiernan.
  • Next Game for Seniors.
In our next game in the Senior League we take on St Marys this Sunday 9th October in Kiltubrid park at 2.30 pm. All supporters please take note.
  • Missing Jersey
While our senior team were creating history on 18th September our number 28 jersey was removed from the dressing room during the senior final. Little does the person (known) who took this jersey realise that the cost of replacing an odd jersey to complete our full new set is rather expensive. Will the person who lives 21 miles from Drumcong and who took the jersey please do the honest thing and give it to any of the club officials in your own community.

If you have any old photographs connected with the parish please make them available to Christina McGourty. Attach phone number etc. and photographs will be returned. All photos regardless of age or content will be of interest to the people compiling the second phase of the Mountain Echoes Book.
  • Kiltubrid Ladies Gaa
  • All - Ireland Sevens
Kiltubrid ladies were participating in the All-Ireland seven a -side tournament in Dublin last Saturday 1st of October. We were in a group with St Slyvester (Dublin), Park Ratheniska (Laois) and Mungret/St Pauls (Limrick). Kiltubrid girls had set out at six o'clock in the morning from Cardiffs and endured our bus breaking down but we still managed to get all our players to the Naomh Mearnog pitch in Portmarnack in time to play Mungret of Limrick. The Limrick team were a very strong and physically bigger team than Kiltubrid but were still lucky to over come us with a last minute goal. The score in this game was Kiltubrid 2-7 Mungrets 2-9. Our next game was against Park Rateniska from Laois this was a brilliant game, end to end stuff full of great goals and it finished Kiltubrid 7-7 Park Ratheniska 5-5. Our last game was against St Slyvesters and the Dublin girls got a bit of a run on us early on and had a good lead up with five minutes to go but Kiltubrid finished very strong with goals and ran out winners scoring 8-2 against 4-9 for St Slyvesters. What all this meant was that the group was tied with three teams on 6 points each and St Slyvesters out of the competition. Kiltubrid, Park Ratheniska and Mungret/St Pauls had to shoot it out from the 30 metre line. Each team had to take five free kicks and our girls kicked very well but unfortunatly lost out to Park ratheniska and Mungrets. Park Rateniska ended up outright winners of the intermediate championship beating Downpatrick from Down in the final and also accounted for Clonguish from Longford in the semi-final, congratulations to them and we must say hard luck to Aughawillan who narrowly lost the shield final.
  • Thanks
We would like to thank the trainer of Park Ratheniska who helped us with injuries to Claire Judge and Lisa Mc Weeney and we would like to thank the two bus drivers that rescued us on the road Saturday morning. Our full panel for the sevens tournament was Emer Horan, Sinead Meehan, Clare Judge, Claire Kelly, Siobhain Kelly, Emer Kelly, Lisa Mc Weeney, Aoife Mc Weeney, Helen Tighe, Aine Tighe, Sinead Tighe and Regina Bohan. Well done girls.
  • U16 final
We wish our u16 team good luck in the county final this Sunday the 9th of October. We take on St Josephs and also play them in the u14 final in a weeks time.
  • Injuries
We wish a speedy recovery to Clare Judge who received a knee injury in our first game against Mungret last saturday, also Lisa Mc Weeney received a knock in the game against St Slyvesters and of course Siobhain Carroll who has a knee injury since the county semi-final against Aughawillan.

  • New Training Ground.
Work is at an advanced stage on our training field thanks to Kieran McKeon and his staff who have worked hard to get this field to the stage it is at now. While doing this work the Car Park has been increased in size to accommodate a third more car parking spaces. The field when ready for use will double as a full size Juvenile Playing facility as well as a Training Field. The road entrance has been fenced off to provide an entrance and an exit for people attending training and games only. No further use of this ground as a general purpose area from now on would be appreciated. We thank all volunteers who assisted in having this work ready for the last week of our Senior Team’s Final preparations, also thanking the workers in the ESB for their assistance in having power restored as well. To offset costs associated with this development supporters are asked to make sure our upcoming draw is a success by maximising ticket sales. Tickets are available from all club members. Prizes include a 42” Plasma TV, Digital Camcorder and numerous cash prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

  • Sponsorship.
The Club wish to thank most sincerely all who have helped out the Senior Team by sponsorship of match gear, financial donations etc.etc.. The cost of running the club and preparing any team is a well known fact to cause stretch marks on the purse strings of any treasurer. Without your support finances would be tight to say the least and with this in mind if you feel you can offer any further assistance the club would be more than grateful. All sponsors will be acknowledged as soon as things settle down for all officers who have been very busy handling all the extra work associated with the championship preparations and celebrations etc. not to mention the next stage.
  • Celebrations Didn’t Forget the People of Niger.
In the heat of all the after match celebrations and mayhem our less fortunate fellow human beings in the famine stricken country of Niger in Africa were not forgotten as club supporters decided to fill the cup with loose change rather than the out of fashion drink from the cup. Hoping that this gesture will propel the notion of having to fill any winning cup with a cocktail of alcohol out of existence for ever more. Thanking everyone who endorsed the idea in the euphoria of the celebrations also those who helped out with the collection and thanking all of you for digging into your pockets to the tune of over € 500 which will go towards the relief of the suffering people of Niger.
  • Sympathy.
We offer our sincere sympathy to Peter Heaney Fenagh on the death of his wife Gretta whose funeral took place last Saturday. May her soul rest in peace.
  • Senior League Game
After a two week break our Seniors take on Gortletteragh on Sunday next 2nd Oct in Gortletteragh at 2.30 pm. Support as usual anticipated.

  • Good Students
Congratulations to all our players who received such good results in their junior cert exams lately.
  • Under 16
Our under 16 team had another good win in the championship last week against Allen Gaels. We have now reached the final against St Josephs on the 9th of October. Siobhain Kelly returned from injury from the minor final and played a flyer but unfortunatly Gaels player Kara Mc Loughlin had a recorance of a rib injury that she received playing for Kiltubrid in the drawn minor final. We wish her a speedy recovery.
  • Senior league
Because of recent results in the Senior league it is apparent that Kiltubrid have reached the league final with one outstanding game to be played, that game is against Aughawillan. We don't know yet when this game will be played because Aughawillan have reached the Connacht final against St Nathys from Sligo. We wish Aughawillan all the best as they go for Connacht glory.
  • Lotto
The lotto was held last Sunday night in Mc Murphys. There was no jackpot winner. The four numbers drawn were 5, 13, 14 and 21. The five 20 euro winners were Micky Moran Drumshanbo, Noel Gilligan Sligo, Tony Redican Kiltubrid, Jason Beire Aughacashel and Aiden Bohan Kesh. The next jackpot will be 1500 euro.

19 September 2005

  • Sorry for the delay !
Apologies for the delay in the notes - Chaotic few days - Celebration's took precedence !
  • Senior
Sunday 18th September 2005 is a date to be enshrined as the greatest ever in Kiltubrid GAA after we claimed our first ever Senior Championship title with a comprehensive win over Bornacoola on a score line of 4-11 to 0-07. Following a great start by Kiltubrid going 1-01 up after 3 minutes Bornacoola battled gamely to never let Kiltubrid go out of sight until the final twenty minutes when our forwards did what they have been threatening to do for the last few years and turn in a powerhouse display with some very well taken goals and points and while the forwards may have got the scores they were as always well backboned by our superb defence which has remained consistently solid throughout the championship campaign. While the players can take the credit for this historic victory it would be amiss of me not to mention Sean Hagan who has steered this team to victory ably assisted by his background team. Finally to our magnificent supporters who showed their great support by transforming the whole Parish into a sea of green and red and getting right behind the team not only in the final but over the whole Championship. The history making team and panel were – Noel Gill, Emmett Lee, Fergal Meehan, Enda McKeon, Aidan Bohan, Barry Doyle, Shane Foley, Karl Scollan, Christy Carroll, Conor Doherty, James Gill, Micheal Earley, Gearoid Foley, Nick O’Donoghue and Dara McKiernan. Subs Used – Niall Foley, Gerry Winters, Adrian Lee and John McGovern. Subs – Stephen Guckian, Gerry Gilmartin, David McGirl, Dermot McKeon, Micheal Bohan, Sean McKeon and Richard Mahon. The next step now is the Connacht Club Championship where our opponents will be Coolera/Strandhill from Sligo on the 16th October.

From everyone associated with Kiltubrid ladies the best of luck lads and just go for it.

  • Committment

05 September 2005

  • Senior
After a hard and fair battle against Aughawillan we created club history in reaching our first ever Senior final winning on a score line of 2-04 to 1-06. If ever the phrase ‘goals win matches’ was appropriate this was it as two first half goals from Dara McKiernan and Nick O’Donoghue gave Kiltubrid the edge in a tense game where the result was in doubt right up to the final whistle. Team – Noel Gill, Enda McKeon, Fergal Meehan, Emmett Lee, Aidan Bohan, Barry Doyle, Shane Foley, Karl Scollan, Christy Carroll, Conor Doherty, James Gill, Micheal Earley, Gearoid Foley, Nick O’Donoghue and Dara McKiernan. 22 August 2005

We had a very luck escape against Sean O’Heslin’s last Saturday evening in the Senior Championship Quarter-Final as we hung on for a 1-07 to 1-07 draw. • Senior
Our senior side clinched senior status for next as well as a place in the Championship quarter finals against Sean O’Heslins with a win over St. Marys last Sunday on a score line of 1-09 to 0-09. Played in ideal conditions the first half was dominated by tit for tat scoring with Kiltubrid leading by the minimum at the break. • Seniors
Kiltubrid ladies had two games last week. On Wedensday last the 6th of July we traveled to Ilandeddy in Mayo which is a few miles outside Castlebar altough don't ask Miranda Burke for Directions! Anyway Kiltubrid were there to take on a Conamara team called Grainne Mhaols in the Connacht senior league. Grainne Mhaols had taken on Bornacoola ladies in last years Connacht junior championship played in Dromad and this is the club of current all-star Lisa Cohill. Our girls did not play with any great cohision in this game with a few exceptions but never gave up either. A strong wind didn't help and it was a draw at half time, Mhaols had the wind in the second half and made good use of it. Kiltubrids defence were quite stubborn and Aine Tighe and her mammy put in two great goals to put Kiltubrid in front with minutes to go but the Galway girls finally broke down our resistance and finished with a late goal and point to win on a score of Grainne Mhaols 1-9 Kiltubrid 2-3. Then on Sunday last it was back to more familiar surroundings in Kiltubrid park and a senior league game with Mohill. We were missing some of our regulars who were believe it or not getting some oxygen but the girls in the park in the swelting heat were lacking some oxygen themselves. Mohill had a lot of the ball and had some good chances but our defence this time were more than stubborn and held Mohill out. In the end we achieved a good victory on the score of Kiltubrid 1-5 Mohill 6 points. Well done girls.
  • Injuries
Injuries have raised their head again last weekend in the Mohill game with Aine Meehan ankle, Lisa Mc Weeney and Kara Mc Loughlin getting knocks and also Regina Bohan. On the plus side Blaithin Mc Kiernan is back from a foot injury and its good to see Sinead Tighe back in action again.
  • Good luck to the men
We wish Kiltubrid senior mens team the best of luck in the championship this weekend.

27 June 2005

  • Senior
Our senior team won their last match before the championship begins against Gortletteragh last Sunday away on a score line of 2-11 to 0-07. In superb weather conditions both teams played some great football at times but goals were always going to be crucial and they came first from a speculative Connor Doherty pass that beat Gearoid Foley and the Gortletteragh keeper to find its way to the net in the first half, the second goal came about as a result of some great build up play with Micheal Earley finishing to the net while a late Gortletteragh revival was thwarted when Noel Gill pulled off a good penalty save. Team – Noel Gill, John McGovern, Gerry Winters, Fergal Meehan, Niall Foley, Aidan Bohan, Enda McKeon, Karl Scollan, Gearoid Foley, Connor Doherty, Micheal Earley, Emmett Lee, James Gill, Barry Doyle and Stephen Guckian.
