Fixtures & Results
We kicked off our 2014 division 2 league campaign on Friday night under lights in Kiltubrid against neighbours Fenagh-St Callian’s, where the going could surely be described as soft. We ended up on the losing side by a single point. Final score being 0-11 to 1-9.  Our minor team also went down in their league opener when we lost to a stronger Glencar Manorhamilton team in Manorhamilton on Saturday morning.
Minor training continues each Tuesday & Thursday at 7pm in Kiltubrid. There is another minor league game scheduled for this Saturday morning so please check the fixtures list elsewhere for confirmation of this fixture.
This week sees the Leitrim senior team back in action when they take on Carlow in round three at home in Carrick on Shannon.  Best wishes to all involved.  Kiltubrid GAA wishes a speedy recovery to Eslin and Leitrim senior player Tomás Beirne who was injured in a crash during the past week.  We hope to see you out and about as soon as possible.

Club Coaching 2014
For any coaches not comfortable with the on-line course Foundation Level course, Leitrim GAA will host a foundation award course in Drumshanbo on Friday February 28th and Saturday March 1st. Course will commence at 7pm on the Friday evening. To book a place on this course you must contact the club secretary, Noelle on 086-3223063.

Membership 2014
It appears that a small number of players and coaches may have forgotten to pay their 2014 membership.  Please rectify this before the next training session. Player membership should be paid to the player’s registrar, Paddy Whitlow without delay. €30 for seniors, €20 for students and underage.

It’s in your Blood’ Campaign
Kiltubrid GAA are supporting the Irish Blood Transfusion Service by raising awareness about blood donation clinics. A quick reminder  that the Blood Donation clinics visits the Bush Hotel, Carrick On Shannon this Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th February from 4.30pm to 8pm. When registering to donate, please inform the clinic staff that you heard about the clinics through the GAA.

Ard Na Speire
This event took place in Kilclare on Sunday in memory of the late Sandra Earley.  The weather held dry for the occasion and helped with a huge turnout for a very worthy cause, Billys world. Well done to the Ard Na Speire organising committee and all their helpers headed up by Micheal and Anja Earley.  A very well run and enjoyable event, even if those hills around Drumbranned and Kiltynashinagh appeared to have grown since last year.
Congratulations to two of our underage players, Fionn O’Brien and Dairmuid Mac Thiarnain. Fionn came first in the under 16 section of the 10 K in a time of 46:32 while Diarmuid was the first under 16 home in the 4 K event with a time of 17:39.  Well done also to local lady, Geraldine Mc Weeney who also had another podium finish in the ladies 10 K event.

Wedding bells
Congratulations to Deirdre Meehan & Mark Fitzpatrick who celebrated their wedding last weekend.  A large group of family, friends and neighbours joined in the celebration into the early hours.  Some hardy souls even managed to continue with round two the following day.  Just in case anybody should come across some missing white doves please contact Fr Brian Shorty as he has been on the look out for them ever since!
